How to Make A Nightwing Costume

If Halloween is right around the corner, you are probably getting ready to look around for costume ideas. It's one of the few timesof year other than Toga parties where it's ok for people to dress up and have a tad bit of fun.

Anyway, if you still want to make your own we have provided some steps to help you out.

Donning a costume, perhaps of your favorite character and going trick or treating or going to a party is an important part of the holiday. Super hero, or super villian, are Halloween favorites to dress up as. People like Superman, Batman or Robin are everywhere, but you might want to go off the beaten path and go dressed as someone such as Nightwing.

Nightwing's costume shares much in common to that of Robin's costume. Nightwing is actually a newer version of Robin. It's also particulary an easy costume to slap together since it lacks weapony or any sort of cape. You can either buy a costume from on the internet or at your favorite brick and mortar store, but making your own is much cheaper. This also gives you the chance to make it unique and your own design, including any personal touches.

Items You Need to Build A Nightwing Halloween Costume:

1. You'll need some black leotards. can be made from cloth or other various materials. For a more authentic approach, you should use a leotard made out of spandex.
2. Some black gloves that fit very tightly.
3. A black leather belt
4. Black or dark pair of boots.
5. Blue spandex fabric or blue textile paint
6. Eight small sized plastic cylinders
7. black or paint
8. black or dark felt paper

How to actually build the Nightwing Mask:

Ok, you have assembled all the necessary items needed to make your Nightwing costume. But you still need to make the mask.

• Take your dark felt paper and draw or outline a masks shapre with some white crayons or a white marker or even a while writing untensil of some kind.
• Take scissors and slowly/carefully cut out the outline of the mask on the felt paper.

How To Build the Nightwing Outfit 

• Take the blue spandex and once again, drawn an outline, but this time it will be of Nightwing's emblem, or logo.
• Cut the emblem out and stick in onto the front of the black leotard with any sort of textile, fabric glue or even rubber cement. Whatever it takes to ensure it actually sticks to the spandex.
• Another option is painting the emblem on the leoard with blue (or your choice of color) fabric paint. This takes some artistic ability but if you are good at painting then have at it.
• Take the plastic cylinders and paint them black. Then, glue them to your belt using something like superglue or anything that will make them stick. This completes your utility belt.
• Punch a hole at the ends of the mask and use elastic string so you can wear it. You can also use gum to stick the mask directly to your face. Try using Spirit gum as it's supposed to be safe for your face.

That completes your outfit. Now, go out and knock'em dead with your NightWing costume!
