How to create your own jedi tunic

A Halloween party is a yearly event that encourages both children and adults to create their own unique and breath-taking costumes. Some of the most popular movie characters that are mostly copied by costume enthusiasts are the heroic characters from numerous Star Wars movies such as Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Princess Amidala. Little boys especially love the jedi tunic and costumes.

Below is a list of some helpful tips on how you can create your own jedi tunic for your little children.

First, carefully plan the costume. In creating a jedi tunic, you can use countless clothes and materials such as turtleneck tees, slacks, shirts, and some pairs of pants. If you are making a jedi tunic from plain scratch, then you have to look for more types of patterns and fabrics.

Next, always remember that jedi tunic and costumes are best known for two things. The first is the cloak which will be discussed later in this article, and the "V" shaped tee shirts.

You can accomplish the V shape by layering an undershirt with a V-shaped shirt that can be tied and fastened around the waist and another overgarment, which can either be a one piece of shirt or 2 long fabric strips.

Third, if you can't find a V shaped shirt similar to a Karate gi that you can paint or dye, then you would have to make one for yourself. You can find different patterns in making your own karate gi or you can simply adopt a bathroom robe pattern, but make it shorter. The karate gi must be generally tan or khaki in color and should be made from a type of fabric that is thick enough, like "homespun" or wool. However, you can make your own jedi tunic lighter since no one would want to wear a 30 layered wool anyway. Since you will need to wear an undershirt, a shirt that is stiff, like the duck cloth, would usually work best.

The tabards of the jedi tunic are usually best worn as 2 separate fabric strips which are belted at the waist. It is recommended that the tabards should also come from thick and heavy fabrics. The weight of the tabards will enable the cloth to stay on your shoulders. Be sure that the tabards are long enough that they can go from your knees, over your shoulders to your front knees. You will mostly lose some lengths when you gather all the clothes by using a belt.

The cloth belt is the next jedi tunic accessory that you have to make. The belt must be very wide than the karate gi. You can create two types of belts. You can either wear a traditional belt that will be wrapped around your waist several times or simply use a Velcro and other types of cloth fasteners.
Now that your jedi tunic is complete, you can now add more effects to your jedi costume by adding some accessories such as a lightsaber, cloak, a blaster, and many others. You will also probably need a traditional leather belt that will go over your top cloth.
